Summary thoughts

Why? So your Thunderchicken Ranger has a chance of getting there with 80% of its parts intact? ?

I'll likely be working by the time the next meet comes around, and I won't have enough time off accumulated by then..

Also, my 2001 is getting near 200,000 miles on the original timing chains and tensioners. It's a ticking time bomb. But at least it won't smoke a clutch in a little sand..

That is one perk about being under powered... it’s easier on the power train. :stirthepot:

I found 2 issues with this trail ride...

First, I couldn't make it. I had a wedding I had to go to.

Second, even if I could go... I no longer have an off-road Ranger. Just a 2wd 4cyl 5spd slammed to the bump stops. "Off-roading" in that is when I drive down my neighbors well groomed, hardpacked dirt driveway.

Riders are always welcome. :icon_thumby:

You could have made it to the area where most if us were camped. The road into the park was better than the paved road leading us there. And our camping area was very friendly to vehicles with little ground clearance.

I rode with Jim both days. My Sport Trac isn't set up for 'froading. I did get new tires last week then I took it for state inspection where I found out that basically my entire front end is shot and needs to be rebuilt. Every ball joint and bushing is roached along with the struts and one CV boot.

If the next one is at an ATV/UTV friendly place, I'll bring my SxS and rooftop tent with my Ranger.
