suggestions on buying an explorer.

Going to be buying an explorer. Want an auto. 4x4. Ttb. Planned on installing a b&m tranny cooler. They have universal super coolers. I think like 15k BTU. To big?

Door handles? Never seen an explorer with door handles that weren't broke. Never had a ranger with broken ones. Any fix? Any years better for this?

Eventually this thing will be lifted. Doubt it'll be rode hard since the Mazda is the project. Just looking to get my gf a winter rig.

My last auto explorer went well. Hoping this one will too.

Are you talking about the interior door handles or the exterior ones? I never had any problems with the exterior handles on my Explorer. The driver's interior one broke. I replaced it with a cheap Chinese eBay one. It works and looks fantastic, except the little panel for the window buttons likes to pop out of it often. The doors are sagging, too. I need to replace the hinge bushings. It's more common on the 2 doors like mine, since the doors are bigger and heavier.

Since you want TTB you'll be limited to the 1991-94 models only. They're all pretty much the same. Don't forget to include Mazda Navajos in your searches.

On my ex, driver and passenger interior handles were broken. I just bolted basically a piece of aluminum strap into the panel where the handle went for my side. Passenger side got a piece of paracord tied in hahah. Obviously I don't care too much about interior. Function over form, my fixes may not look the best but they get the job done. Definitely smell the trans fluid to see if its burnt, mine was burnt but I didn't notice til after I bought it (only $450 anyway) but its still going strong 12,000 miles later.
