2000 Ford ranger with a 4.0L V6 ohv and a 5r55e transmission. Was driving home from work yesterday and stepped on it pretty hard and suddenly, no power. Tried to get up to speed and it just revs up to 4000 rpm and it has no go... Recently replaced transmission so that's my first suspect. Any ideas? I'd like to get this thing up and running again soon as i'm 17 and just got my license 4 days ago...

check fluid level on trans, check to see if fluid is burnt, also possible bad torque converter. was trans used when replaced? if so could have been going out

Yeah it was used but said to have been recently rebuilt. Checked the level and it was fine. It didbsmell a little burnt though...
