How long has it been since you've done a tune up on your Ranger? Pull the plugs and check 'em. Pull the distro cap and make sure it's good. Change out the fuel filter and air filter. It's like therapy when you execute a couple 12 oz. curls during this tune-up! Hope this helps!!

If you dont know how old the plug wires or pcv are start there give it a good tune up for winter plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv, oil change and filters no sense in pulling codes or troubleshooting until the PM is done first. Then you can reset the computer disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. and then run it for 20 minutes at medium speeds if you still have issues pull the codes you can buy a code reader at the part store or use a test light or volt meter to retrieve the codes. Here is the link in the tech library on how to pull codes.
