In my ranger i have 2 10's, and i had them wired into my deck wrong. The RCA's were plugged into a speaker output for the rear speakers. I got it figured, and plugged my RCA's into the correct spot... the sub output from my deck. Now with that, i could here humming from my motor in the subs. Turn the music down real low, and you can hear the idle through the subs ha. The ground on my amp is good, under a foot, fully ground, and the ground in my deck is good too... What is up? Where's the humming coming from? Thanks alot.

EMI

you have something unsheilded

What do you mean by unshielded? or EMI?

you need to get a filter for your system i had the same problem on my other car and the filter fixed it.

EMI = electro-magnetic inference

there is a wire or wires that are connected to your sub system, and the electro-magnetic feild crosses the wires and gets feed to your amps happens alot if your rca's are ran next to your power wire, for a good distance,

Is Your radio aftermarket? if so did it come with a Little black box with wires running in and out of it?

That box is the EMI filter for the radio. make sure its inline with the radios power source.

yes my RCA's do run along side my power cable dash to amp ha... so i'll have to get a filter i guess. My deck is aftermarket, Clarion, it's great, but it didn't come with the EMI filter as far as i know. When this filter is in, is connected at the deck, or at the amp end?

im the ****ing man what can i say lol, you can re run your rca's,

how i do it , what ever side the battery is on gets the power down the door side and the rca's get the other side down the door. and you wont get that, and no extra parts to buy

youll want to run your power wires on one side, the rcas through the middle and the speaker wires on another side. if anything has to crossover the power wires make sure its at 90 degrees.

So if i got that EMI filter, would i have to reroute my other wires, or could i leave everything where it lies?

you can leave it all were its at, most of the time, i have seen the filters not keep up some times, if you rerun just your rca's you wont have the issue.

alright killer. I'll rerun them damn RCA's. Thanks boys.
