Great forum. I own both a 94 XLT 4x4 and an 85 Bronco II 4x4, so I have plenty of need for the expertise here.

Today, I am hoping I can get some quick advice on repairing a 94 STX 4x4 that a friend owns.

My friend tells me that his STX (w/high rider suspension) needs a pitman arm. Ford lists the STX/High Rider pitman arm as "NLA." The aftermarket manufacturers no longer list it as well.

However, a post I found here in a search says the arm is essentially just a 4-inch lift pitman.

My question is: Who makes a good replacement pitman and where is the best place to purchase?

Thanks for your help!

Just a thought and not being an @ss, measure up what you have height from flat to flat (or drop depending on how you look at it), length center of steering box shaft hole to center of tie rod hole.
Then call some of the manufacturers and/or supplier, you might start with James Duff.
When I needed info, they were the most helpful in getting something together.
SkyJacker was good also.

Also, start prowling the JYs but to me the Manuf. Supplier route is the best.

94 stx won't be a high rider. iirc the last year for high rider was 89. Search the forum, there's some good info already out there. One thread in the rare rbv section and a magazine article as well. I would search for you but I'm on my phone, kinda tough to do...

I would do as scrambler suggested, going to the aftermarket. I have a few pics in my build thread comparing a 91 stx and a 87 stx, you can really see the difference. Like kunar said, I don't think the factory made the hi-rider after 89, tho your friend could have a leveling kit which would do the same front lift basically excepting the pitman arm....hence your question.

Here's some pics of the pitman arm, the small one is a '91 STX Ranger, the big one is a '87 STX Highrider Ranger. Looks like I'll have quicker steering;

Good luck,

Thanks.

My friend had said that all the STX 4x4s were high riders. Guess he was wrong. Looked at several sites and see plenty of arms that fit 94s -- including STXs.
