I have a 94,auto, stx ,4.0,4x4,supercab, ranger.... I'd like to know what makes it an "stx" as opposed to an xlt or a regular ranger...:icon_surprised:

just the badges i think? my brother has an stx with the high rider option and it is identical to mine other than its way taller.

...STX models which includes "special accenting, sporty trim, tinted glass, black foldaway mirrors, black grille and bumpers, and new tape treatment" (from field and stream)

"STX features reclining cloth bucket seats in the Regular Cab model, or dual cloth Captain's Chairs with individual recliners and power lumbar supports in the SuperCab. The door trim panels are cloth-covered and include carpeted map pockets. The steering wheel is wrapped in genuine leather. Standard sound system is electronic AM/FM stereo with digital clock and four speakers. In STX you also have pivoting front vent windows for added ventilation, a convenient trip odometer, and a tachometer on the instrument cluster to read the pulse of the STX's electronically fuel-injected 2.9 liter V-6 engine." (from factory brochure, also noted on the page that some equipment may be optional)

His is a 3rd gen, those are the options for a 1st/2nd gen STX.
Though some of those apply, the 2.9L definitely does not.

oh, i see i missed that... well disregard then.

in that case, i bet it comes with some goofy lookin graphics on the sides huh? 3rd gens had the worst color choices, especially stx graphics.

My STX is a 96.

It does not have all the goofy graphics, just a blue stx sticker on the tailgate.

Mine has 4.0, 5sp and manual t-case/hubs. Power windows, doors, locks and seats. Factory tinted windows, 265/75/15 (31x10.5x15) tires, alloys, slider, a/c, cruise, tilt, carpet. Also has grey plastic fender flares, door trim and front bumper valance with fog lights. It does sit a little taller than most rangers of it's time, but I don't think it has a factory lift on it.

I'm pretty sure that the "hi-rider" package was included on 4x4 STX's and optional on other Ranger 4x4's.

Defective, you failed to mention the third brake/cargo light, bed liner, mud flaps on all 4 wheels w/ranger stamped on them. Also the black tinted acrylic front side window wind deflectors.....My stx is black with grey grill and grey wheel well flares. It has the a4ld but I had it built by transmission exchange in portland ore.,H.D.4x4 w/H.D. low stall torque converter. The first two gears are really torquey ( don't know if thats a word). Overdrive is 2,200 rpm at 65 mph. It's not really a small truck as rangers go and rides rough (stiff) till you put weight in it. You actually have to step up into it.

The 3rd Gen STX's didn't have the High Rider package.

STX's have skid plates, 265/75/15 (31x10.5x15) factory tires, decals, and painted front and rear bumpers vs. regular 4wd Rangers.

I have both an STX and a XLT. The STX is a 86, and the XLT is a 97. The STX has:
Power windows
Power door locks
Cruise control
Bucket seats w/ power lumbar
Stock RPM gauge

The XLT has:
Manual windows
Manual door locks
Manual trans.
No RPM gauge

I know that these trucks arn't always like that, but thats the way my trucks are. Anyways, just throwing that out there.

Didn't realize the wind deflectors were stock. I do have 4 mudflaps that say ranger, third brake light w/ cargo light, and skidplates as well. Also have to throw in the openable extended cab windows.

I did not have a bed liner in mind when I got it but I bought it used at 32k miles.

The bumpers are painted, but they are titanium grey.
