Will the R1 tailshaft housing fit an R2 trans? i have both and cant find a 97-98 R2 housing anywhere.

are you talking M5OD R1 and R2? If so, I believe they are different, the R2's use a different transfer case pattern so are probably bigger (I figure you are talking 4x2... bear with me), the R2 being bigger the tail housing is most likely larger also...

No. Won't bolt to the case or the t-case.
