I am putting a motor in my 93 ranger should I take the intake manifold off to put the motor in I try with the intake up I could not line the trany up with the intake on the motor intake was hiting the fire wall

yes, take off upper intake.

Not lower intake, the part bolted to the heads.

Also nice to have a jack under the transmission so you can adjust it a little as well, to match up the holes.

I prefer to have the upper intake off and the trans out. It is doable with the engine completely dressed, but it can be a pain.
