I have a 88 2WD and was wanting to lift it in front. I have springs and shocks but I read that I would need DROP BRACKETS for the intended 3-5" lift. I don't know what drop brackets are and the only thing I can find is Radius Arm Drop Brackets and some Front Box Brackets. Can someone explain it or is there a link somewhere that explains it. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I thought I'd ask the forum and hope nobody called me an idiot.

they go where the two front axle beams pivot from the frame, they need to lower those pivot points or your tires would look like this from the front

the picture sucks but they come with just about any lift kit you buy. at least a full lift kit.

the one "L" or "Y" shaped bracket under the coil springs is one of them, and the one that is near the radius arm on the right(looks kind of like it but thicker) is the other.

Another thing that you will want is an extended 'drop' pitman arm. Another option is to buy or build cut and turn beams.

So if I put on I-beam brackets would I need to get Radius brackets also?

You should, otherwise you screw up your caster. I don't know if it could be fixed enough by alignment bushings. Here is some info about bushings given to me by BlackBII;

Here are some part numbers for a Dana 35.

Ingalls #594, Moog #K8986, Specialty Products #24180, and Spicer # 6122025

If you have a Dana 28, they will be different. RockAuto.com has them, and you can get them at Napa, Checker, Autozone..etc "

I also saw in a recent thread radius arm bushings that had an offset hole that would help, and maybe with the alignment bushings, could do away with the rad arm drop brackets. But I don't have enough knowledge to say for sure.
I was lucky enough to score an '87 stx highrider and took the factory drop brackets and pitman arm to put on my racetruck. You may be lucky in finding one, I got mine before I knew what a highrider was, and scored it for a case of beer:icon_rofl:

Edit; I just realized you are working with a 2wd, I don't know if the 4x4 stuff will work for you. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.
Good luck,

Richard
