Okay, so I am Upgrading from the OEM G2 alternator on my 2.9 in my ranger, up to a G3 ford alternator.
Also, from 75 amps, to 130 amps.
Which requires more than a single 3/8" V belt to transfer that much horsepower.

So, time to play with belt setups.

Okay, so here is a portion of my engine compartment. Nice and big for clarity.

Now the plan is to space the power steering pump (with the faded yellow color reservoir) out far enough to be driven by the sheave circled in yellow.
Now at this point, people will be wondering why right off the water pump.
It wont be direct off the W/P, I have the required pulley to bolt onto the harmonic balancer to drive everything correctly. OEM app was A/C. My truck never has, and never will have A/C.

Now with P/S driven by the A/C pulley, this leaves the two sheaves (Circled in green) to drive my alternator.

To space my P/S pump, all I have to do is space the black adjustment bracket out from the aluminum support. This is attached to the aluminum bracket with several bolts such as the ones circled in Red

The tape measure is placed in there simply to provide scale.

Now the big question is this, what material do you all suggest I use for my spacers? Aluminum or steel, and what grade?

And some more pics, just because.

Also a note, I cant use the A/C sheave to drive my alt because it is about 4mm smaller in outer diameter than the other two sheaves.
As such, im biting the bullet, and overdriving my P/S by what should be a minor amount.

Nuts seems kinda hokey. Longer bolts will of course be used, but I plan on making spacers out of round stock with the appropriate sized hole drilled into the centre.
