Hello. My insurance money should be here in about a week or so. It should be about $3500. I can fix everything myself so Im going to end up with about an extra $3000:yahoo:. The first thing I am going to do is get new tires for the rims I bought about a month ago. They are 15X8 http://www.young-blood.com/yb/images/wheels/americanracing/truck/AR-39(series39).jpg

I need a little imput on tires though since I have a few options. The sizes Im going to run are 295/50R15 in the rear, and 235/65R15 up front. The tires Im leaning towards are Cooper Cobra Radial GT's, : http://coopertire.com/Flash/index.aspx
I could also go with BFGoodrich Radial T/A: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/radial-t-a/12.html
I can get the Cooper's for $120 a tire mounted and balanced with a 50,000 Mile warranty. I can get the BFG's for $101 a tire BEFORE mount and balace(12.25 a tire for M&B) and a 40,000 mile warranty. What do yall think should I do?

id go with the bfg radials. my dads friend has them on his ford falcon, mustang mach 1, and his 50's ford pickup and has had no problems at all. seems like youre going for a street rod style look, fat in the rear, skinnier in the front... i think the solid white lettering will make it look pretty cool imo:icon_thumby:

edit: just looked at your "class" and i guess i was right haha

Thank you. I have decided to go with the Cooper Cobras though, since they are guaranteed a bit longer, and since Ive never had any luck at all with BFGs. And they both have the solid white letters too:icon_thumby:

the bfg t/a's changed a few years ago... not nearly as good as they used to be. had them on my 05 mustang, wore real fast. had the old ones(good ones) on a 68 olds, far better. i have cooper cobras on my '85 mustang and they are a far better tire, more tread, better grip, longer tread life.

let me preface this by saying that i love cooper tires. ive worked at 3 different cooper dealers and run coopers on 2 of my 3 rigs. their tires are tougher than nails (litterally, sometimes). wear and ride very nicely, and provide all the traction they should given what type of tire they are.

but...

the cooper cobras look a lot better than they are. the rubber compound is extremely hard which means treadlife is extended, but at the cost of traction. if you really want to use your street truck as a street truck (burning out in the wal-mart parking to impress those girls in the PT cruiser doesnt count), i would seek other options.

have you compared them to a newer t/a though? the cobras stick a lot better than the bfg's. cooper zeons are pretty soft.

i havnt driven a car with a new set of BFG's yet...so i couldnt tell you. i can tell you that the cheapo hankooks i have on my blue escort stick a lot better than cobras do. even my cooper ATR's on the ranger seem to have the advantage on dry pavement over the cobras...and they are all terrains.

the cobra really failed to impress me the few times ive driven them...

hangooks are sticky, too bad they last like 10,000 miles. im a big fan of atr's also... i recommend them to almost anyone with a truck.

and all this is useful info to me as well because in the near future id like to get a 2wd ranger n make a little street rod out of it. i was just basing my reply on one guy who drives his mach 1 maybe 500 miles a year....in the summer....when its sunny out....lol, the falcon is still in resto mode and the pick up is outa commision for the past couple years so those tires havent really been used at all. but keep the info commin itll make decision time for me a lot easier:icon_thumby:

you are talking about two different tires, the radial t/a's havent changed the newer mustangs run the TRACTION t/a's and he is looking at the RADIAL t/a's. yes the tractions suck, but i would definitely reccomend the bfg radial t/a's for what you are looking for but i personally hate coopers(so i might be a little biased), i work at a tire shop and see far too many of them seporated.

I didnt like the pooper scCooper ATR's - Too hard, chipped off, and skidded in the rain. OTOH, I loved the older Coopers like the LT and AT.

So in conclusion, the reason us teens of today wear boxer shorts instead of briefs is because its our only opportunity to be truly free.
see my sig...
