I just bought a 1950 Studabaker pickup...:yahoo:
Has a Chevy 350/350 trans, 9" ford, drop axle with power disc brakes, chrome wire wheels, chrome grill, frenched in 1954 Buick head lights and the whole body is in gray primer.
Plan on doing a "rescued from the junk yard" finish on it, worn and weathered with some sort of a speed shop or garage sign on the doors.

what kind of barbarian put a Chevy engine in it?

Traditional engine transplant for a Stude is a Cadillac powerplant.

Yeah, I know late Larks got a chevy powerplant from the factory.

The father of a friend of mine has one with a 283, oddly the factory
transmission is a Ford C4... Thinking about that powertrain combination
still gives me a headache.

Well...............

I've got a customer/friend that I've known for years who is now the County Sheriff of the county adjacent to ours..........he owns a body shop and before he became Sheriff, I watch him build his 47 Stude truck from the ground up...........it's red, tubbed w/9" & 33x18.50 M/T Sportsmans, Nova or Camaro clip, and a 454 under the hood...........he also has a 66 SS396 Chevelle restored & 55 Bel Air 2dr post restored.:D

Somebodies put some work into that, I like the headlight upgrade!:icon_cheers:

Curious as to what ya gave for it?

Just my O2: I'd loose them rims (look like Tru Spokes & PITA to clean), dress up that engine bay wirin, and paint it.

I gave $5,500.00 for it, she was asking $6,500.00.

Kinda like the wheels, they ARE Tru-Spoke.
Will make beeded aluminum covers for the back of the dash to hide everything, paint will be satin black with some pin stripes, guna add a 1949 Chevy sun visor and the rear bumper which matches the factory front is from a early 3 seriesBMW:icon_thumby:

very cool, definitely a hot rod, simple and to the point.

I am with you that I hate the fact that SBCs end up in everything (even though I'm putting a 327 in my '57 Chevy pickup lol)..I didn't know there were "rules" like this cadillac transplant you speak of.

Cooler engines

Yea, SBC's just don't have the sex appeal that a Cady, Olds

Rocket 88, Buick Nail Head, an early Hemi or a Lincoln has in

a older hot rod unless it has a blower on it and the small

block is in a GASSER....:headbang::yahoo:
