First of all, this forum has been a great resource. Lot's of knowledge here.
My problem started yesterday evening. I jumped in the truck and when I went to start it, everything just kinda shut down, like when a battery terminal is loose. I popped the hood thinking that's probably what it is, but by the time I got the hood propped up, I could hear the door chime, then it would quit, then start again, then quit. I turned the key to the ACC position and it kept doing it, and I noticed a clicking coming from under the dash, I moved the key to off, and it kept doing it. When I turned it to run, the door chimes and the clicking would quit and the idiot lights would come on, but when I moved the key to the start position, nada. It wouldn't do anything. I had to disconnect the battery to get the door chimes and the clicking to stop.
I replaced the ignition switch and it is still doing the same thing. After I got the lower trim panel off, I could tell where the clicking was coming from. It's some sort of small blue relay under the steering column. When I hook the battery back up, it starts clicking at a increasing pace, the my speakers start picking it up too. I can't find what this relay is in my Haynes manual. Anybody have any ideas?
I figured out that it is the flasher relay. Could that be what is causing the problems, or just a symptom?
