I have a 04 4.0 ranger 4x4 with 51k miles. when it gets to 40mph-55mph there is a Humming sound comming from the drivers side it will start and stop. anyone with any ideas cause its beyond annoying.

I have the same thing happening somewhat on my 99 4x4 4.0. I'm very curious on what it may be. I'm going to poke around today and see if I can find anything under the hood. Mine will start up at like 51 mph and cut out at 60 for the most part. It follows my engine rpm so its not a wheel bearing. idk

if you find out let me know I looked around for something loose vibrating, but couldnt see anything.

Could be pads, unitbearing, tire. Does it get louder as you accelerate?
