i have a 1995 ford ranger xlt, it didnt come with the fog lights in the valence but i happened to come across the valence with fog light holes so i ordered the fog lights for it but cant seem to figure out how to make them stay attached to the valence. i figure there must be some sort of bracket and if any of you readers knew of how they mount on there or had picture of your rangers with for lights mounted in the valence i would greatly appriciate it.

The picture with the Beefy piece of cast iron is the Factory set up.
The other picture is how TRS user PlumCrazy set his foglamps up. Either way should work fine. I would have gone the same way PlumCrazy did, but I don't have the time/skills/tools to do a homemade bracket.

If you have the tools, you can probably cut yourself a bracket. I was going to use some of those shelf supports and cut it, but I didn't have a saw nor did I have a drill to make a hole in my bumper bracket. Either way should be fine. Just make shure you go to the "Looking For" and "Parts For Sale" Forums. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm in the process of doing the same thing. PlumCrazy's way seems doable to me.

Before/after photos would be cool.

It does look like an easier and cheaper way, but, I didn't feel like buying the bits to drill a hole on my bumper bracket. Besides that, they look a little thin and I don't want to make them weaker with a hole.

But the advantage is that you no longer have to worry about bending the hell outta your bumper. Those factory brackets are so strong, I can probably bet that if I catch something with them, I will bend the entire bumper.

I say this a lot to people wiring lighting, make sure to use a relay(s) when wiring the Fog Lights. The lights will burn brighter and last longer when wired properly with a relay and properly sized wire.
Also, the grounding is important, you can connect the ground wire (usually the black wire or the mounting hardware) to the frame or bumper or any metal body part but the problem is that rust get in between the body part, the frame and bad connection do not support good electrical current flow. The best method of attaching grounds is to run the ground wires back to the battery and size the ground wire to the power wire.

luck, good project.
Post pics if you gotum.

I haven't had a chance of wiring my Fogs. If you look closely at the first pic, the wires are just tucked back into the bracket.

I have Zero experience in electrical background, so doing this will be just as hard as Biochem!

Do you have a diagram on wiring the fog lamps. All I want to do is have them turn on and off from one switch. I don't want to tap into my High and Low Beam wires. It seems like a PITA. All of the wiring kits at A-zone seem to make you tap into your low beam or high beam wires. Any help would be appreciated. My lazyness has almost made me wire them up with a fuse only, but I really want to make sure I'm doing the job correctly.

You probably only got the glass and bulb. There is a cover that has the small bracket.

Well, the only other advice I can give you is to search for a JY and look for some old Fogs from a Mustang 87-93. They seem to be a bit smaller, but they fit.

Another option is, a lot of people seem to have broken fog lamps. On my search for Fog Lamps, I asked around and found that when someone was scrapping their Ranger, some people didn't sell the fogs because they didn't work. Just keep asking. You can probably buy broken fogs from people and just replace the lens. They shouldn't charge you more than 5 bucks for a broken pair of fogs. Heck, you may even get them for free if you just pay for shipping.

Just a quick question, where did you buy the bulb and lens?

This is Good.

The only question, can I tap the Cigarette Lighter (12V power supply for electronics) to use power for the Switch? I know it needs something that has power all the time (well, at least when the truck is running). Or can I just simply run a wire straight to the battery (+). This means I'll have two wires running from the battery (+) terminal. Will that work?

Before, after, and Mid-way photos are here, with sucky image quality. (sorry)

i bought the bulb and lense as replacements on ebay. 20 bucks each.

Either way will work. Tapping into the cig lighter will mean less fishing wires through the firewall which is a bit of a PITA....
