I'm looking at this kenwood bc it
A) has 3 preamp outputs and
B) has built in HD Radio.
Is there anything else that has these features that you all would suggest that stay's relatively cheap.
Headunit

Here's the rest of my stereo plans for my new (to me) truck.
Speakers all the way around

Powered by this amp

Wired with this kit

Then a type r sub in a sealed box powered by some other alpine amp. Yes, I take the challenge of fitting a type r in my reg cab :D

What do you all think? Should I get some cheaper speakers for the rear and leave them on the hu power? Then I would only need 2 preamp outputs and I could save some $ on the amp. Thoughts?

i personally cant stand single din stereos. hate them with a passion. you know you can run factory headunit with a transfer box. (forgot technical name)

im running over 800 watts to a clarion 12" with my stock headunit. also, save the money on the amps and get a headunit that has the power for the speakers without amps. wayyyyy less work .

Well, the headunit can supply power to the speakers, but they will be SEVERELY underpowered without an external amp. And there is no way in hell you are running 800 watts from your headunit to the sub alone. You HAVE to have an external amp hooked up to that sub or it simply would not play, or sound like crap. And stock headunits don't have aux or usb ports for ipod hookups and such.

Id run tge rear speaks off of hu power. Alpine makes good stuff I got there mrp-500 amp pushing my memphis pr tens.

Yeah, I have that with a kicker L7 that I'm going to keep instead. Too much money to redo everything... for now. And my "lift" and tires comes first lol.

Line out Converter.

In my other car, I have the stock head unit running to 2 line out convertors, to a modest 4ch amp for the speakers and a small amp to run a modest sub. ( I don't need to be heard, ok with sounding good to only me in the car)

Will do a similar setup (minus a sub) for the truck sometime down the road.

So, I decided to save some cash and I think I'm going to power just the front 2 speakers. I'm stuck between 3 amps and I'd like all of your opinions on them.

or Kenwood

Any thoughts?
Oh, and I'm going to keep my old headunit, since I only need to sets of rca connections, from my other ranger. An Alpine cde-102.

im runing the box that taps into the stock speakers wires for signal. and no, i have a amp and 1000watt wires. just need a better battery and higher amp alternator.

oh and save your money and buy clarion. ive had sony, jl audio, rockford forgate, pioneer and kenwood (hate em). so far ive yet to find clarity, performance and prices like clarion. only thing i think is better is Bose.

now, if you wanna just thump and dont care about sound quality, go for something cheap.

im all about the best possible sound. im actually going to hushmat my truck next. as long as its not too cold.

Wires usually go by guage, not watts. Unless your runnang a big amp I wouldent worry about a better battery, maybe not even an alternator unless you just wanna spend tge money. It will help keep the voltage up but its not needed. I ran a 1000d on stock alt. Nd battery and it bumped just fine. How big a amp you got?

I don't wanna thump with my door speakers. I want them to have better midbass than the ones I have and more loudness but not a whole lotta thump. That's what my L& is for :D
