i was going to order a steerign stabilizer for my 1993 ford ranger it has a 4 inch lift and 33 inch tires......... is it neccesary? if it is what brand should i get?

If you have bump steer, correct the problem correctly and don't cover it up with a steering stabilizer. A steering stabilizer is a band aid.

The best thing you can do is to get the Superlift Superunner steering system.

The Skyjacker extra drop pitman arm #FA600 will give better geometry than the Superrunner kit, but the Superrunner can be modified into a much better setup if you have a good 220V welder.

I agree, a steering stabilizer shouldn't be needed if everything is in proper working order.

For a 4" lift, the Superunner kit is perfect with a standard drop pitman arm. There isn't any modifications necessary for a 4" kit. Now if he upgraded to the 6" kit, then the Superunner would need to be modified.

Don't forget the extra stress the extreme drop pitman arm puts on the steering box.

The Super kit will work at 4", provided you have standard TTB lift coils (not Jeep coils, etc.). However it's geometry out of the box is still not perfect:

The drop arm on the other hand puts the stock linkage pretty much dead on (after all, the above SJ arm does drop a true 4").

That's the Skyjacker kit.

I believe he stated that it was indeed the extreme drop arm.

anyone got pics of a modified superrunner linkage?

With 8" coils:

Note it's still off a bit, but would be almost perfect with 2" less lift (6" coils).

any gusset work or did you just cut the linkage and make a "sandwich"

I'm looking to get one of them Extreme drop arms from Skyjacker...anyone seen one for under $180?

Nope....Its about that price anywhere that I've seen.
