Okay so I'm swapping a V8 into a 95 Ranger RWD std. cab. I've totally stripped the engine bay EXCEPT for the power steering gear box and steering shaft. Now I've done a few things at the same time so I'm not sure what may have caused what I perceive to be a problem. Or maybe it's not, so here goes! Changed coil springs to a heavier load rating (1650lbs.) Installed new outer tie rods.
New rotors, bearings, calipers, pads. It's a TIB suspension. During the course of stripping stuff I decided to see if I could somehow reconfigure the power steering (gear box) to avoid header issues. Which I now know ain't gonna happen , but, I unbolted the gear box without disconnecting any of the links! To my surprise the box was under some torque pressure and rotated a bit (counter clockwise from the front). Quite sure the only thing holding it back was the pitman arm connection to the drag link! Anyway, had to get the clamps out to back rotate it into position to catch the bolts and re tighten it back to where it was.
Now I cant turn the steering wheel, whether the suspension is hanging OR on the ground. Did I screw something up or do I need to REALLY reef the steering wheel to get it to turn again?? It was fine before the changes. Anybody??? Thanks...
p.s. The new coils are pushing those I Beams down quite a bit more with no engine weight on them...???

Never Mind, I AM A TOTAL IDIOT !!! After reading my post it dawned on me that JUST MAYBE I should try unlocking the ignition with the key!!!!

I seems to work just fine, thankyou very much !!??

That would help.
