Not sure if thats what it's called, but while trying to shake down a noise I found a lot of play in my steering. It's not in any tie rods, but up where the pitman arm connects I suspect. When I turn the tires softly it feels pretty good, but if I move them hard and fast it feels like something slips or has to catch up to me. If I shake it back and forth I can hear a soft clunk too.

how do you tighten the steering box? do you just turn that stud on top? mine is very hard to turn. is that normal? thanks
got a '90 ranger with the 2.9

never mind. i found a write up in a later forum
