Well, I got the door lock rod clip solved - now I have a problem with my turn signal switch. It's been working fine for 27 years but today it won't lock in position or move down for a left turn. I'm guessing I will have to replace the switch but so far can't get the shroud off. Haynes instructions doesn't seem to work. Also it doesn't seem to be stuck to the bottom half but I can't get the left side to budge. Any solutions?

I have a tilt wheel and can tilt it down far enough to get the top from under the steering wheel. Just can't get the damn thing to come loose on the left.

OK - I got the shroud off. My Haynes manual said if it had a tilt steering wheel it did not have the two screws underneath but they were there. Since no one has responded this is probably a rarity. I have ordered the Turn Signal/Headlight switch from LMC. Haynes dosen't give much detail so guess I'll have to play it by ear or should I say eye since no one seems to be knowledgable.

That is why I also have a Chilton's. it gives more detail on things like electrical.

When you took the shroud off, did you test the turn signal?

I recently had to take mine off and when I put it back on the right turn signal would not go all the way up...I put the shroud on a bit too low for that so all I had to do was loosen the shroud and twist it slightly...

Not hard to get them twisted either...they don't actually fasten to the column but sort of hold themselves in place...

Just a thought!

Thanks. I tried that but it still will not move up or down. The headlight dimmer works but not the turn signals. I also found some instructions on line on how to remove and replace it plus instructions on how to remove and reinstall the lever on a new switch.
