alright just wondering if anyone has done anything about this.

not a huge issue or anything, just a bit annoying when trying to do high speed offroad manoeuvres. ive had to slow my pace due to not being able to steer as fast as before. (not going super fast or anything, staying safe)

after the body lift is done, and the steering extension is in, the rubber boot on the firewall is at such an angle that it rubs, and makes steering harder. not super hard, but its not as easy as before. for obvious reasons. wheel doesn't "bounce" back to straight either.

pic below, just wondering if anyone has done anything to reverse the "heavy" steering feel.

maybe trimming that larger outer rubber piece a bit?

On some models you need to lower the steering assembly by moving it down on the fire wall in case of bind, or stiff steering if you bought the pa lift kit it will tell you what to do, I did it on my not a big deal< I believe that their web site has the instructions in pdf.

Did the pa kit. No mention at all of doing that lol. I think if just trim that outer rubber part a bit....

It's more than likely that boot. My truck doesn't have it. You can try trimming it with a razor blade. Just take it slow and don't do too much of it. I'm sure that'll work.

Or you can leave it and it'll wear itself down!

Think I'll leave it for a while. See how goes over winter.

You say your truck doesn't even have one?

Nope. I don't have it. Could of been there at some point but it's definitely not there now.

I have a 3 inch home brewed body lift and at first my turning radius lost like a foot in diameter but still had the 1.5 turn on the steering wheel then I put 31x10.5's on it and got 2 full turns out the wheel with the stock set up, I never extended mine and it still has its really fluid steering like with the 28x8's that came with it

I think it rubs to the boots or its angle of the steering column to the steering box which makes it hard to steer.

Sorry to revive an older thread. I want to do a lift both suspension and body. I also wanted to shorten my steering colum because it seems to stick out way to far so just a few inches. So the question is so you have to extend the colum? And if not would this do what I want? Thanks in advance

I put on my 2 inch body lift without using the steering extensions. Several others have done 3 inches on both newer and older vehicles without it. Mine actually didn't slide apart at all.

Excuse my ignorance, so the colum didn't move at all? Could I use the body lift to my advantage and move the mount inside the cab down after lifting p
