I just pulled out a 4.0L V6 motor out of my 1994 Ford Ranger and now I have a problem with the wiring for the starter on the new motor that i just put in. I can not seem to get the truck started with out hotwiring it. What do I need to do to fix this problem.

Im guessing you put in another 4.0 what year is it from? What do you mean by hotwiring the starter? I know of the starter solinoids going out and you can jump it with something metal but i dont know why it wouldnt just hook up and start?

Is all the wires properly hooked up to the starter? look for the tiny ground wire that goes onto the starter body to make sure you didn't bust it off. next check your starter relay on the passenger side fender. is it working properly? or is this where you say you are jumping it from? becarefull not to cook your relay.
