Starting issue.

Posting this for a friend.

Symptoms are a starter that works when you beat it with a big metal hammer, or when it's warm.

And the starter is only a year old, and failed last year when it was extremely cold too.

Someone said the flywheel could be out of alignment..

Could it be the starter isn't grounded good? Or could it be the battery cable is corroded? If not then take the starter back and getcha nother..

Could have a flat spot. broken or badly worn brushes too. worn commutator. any of the above its just easier to replace it.
