What starters have you guys had good luck with? For some reason my truck just started eating starters out of the blue. Well, I suppose it all started with a broken flexplate spacer. That was replaced and a new flexplate was installed, but ever since i installed a new starter (was on the engine before the spacer was replaced), i have had a terrible grinding noise when starting. I put the old starter back on, which was quiet until the spacer issue, but it too is making the grinding noise. I also have a new issue where it won't engage at times and I have a intermittent tapping noise when i believe is from the starter gear tapping against the flexplate while running.
I plan on trying out the 10 tooth starter gear as well with the new starter. It seems both starters have damage to the nose, like the flexplate came in contact with them (I am guessing due to the broken spacer), so I can't really try the 10 tooth gear on my current starters.
