My 1993 ford ranger 4 cylinder starter is goin down hill i have a 1987 ford ranger 6 cylinder starter can i use it on my 93? Thanks

if they both look the same,I don't see why not, BUT go to one of the part stores online, type in both engines and see if they come up with the same or a diffrent starter.

y not i used a starter off a 87 on a 83 worked fine

you might have to swap the drive end housing.
i have done that with taurus starters, and they
work fine. check the bushing before you put
it in. original starters are much better than
rebuilt.

depends, i think the starters mount on the opposite side on the 3.0. I'm kinda doubting they're gonna be interchangeable if it's not from the same motor. but, it never hurts to check if it's free.

the end that mounts to the engine is most likely the only thing that's different, they're not that hard to take apart, but like said, check the bushings while you are there. I had 3 starters and made a good one for my truck, the original finally crapped out after 20 years...
