Starter Relay

Hi guys-

Where in the heck is the starter relay in a '98 Ranger with a 2.5 4-cylinder?? Everybody and their brother-in-law says that it should be on the inner fenderwell on the driver's side, and that is what all of the diagrams show, but unless they started making the starter relays to look exactly like the ABS hydraulic unit, then it isn't there. Tracing the wires from the positive lead of the battery indicates that it might possibly be on the firewall, but I haven't located it yet (I was sitting in a muddy parking lot and couldn't too much investigating). If anyone could point in the correct general direction, and possibly indicate the best way to access it, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks,
Brett

Ok, I think I know what the problem is here.

What you need to be looking for is this:

It's in the fuse and relay block over behind the LH head light. Relay position 6.

Assuming the column of large fuses is to your left, there will be a pair of identical relays in the right hand rear corner. Swap them. If the relay is the problem the truck will start and the blower motor won't work.
