Am a novice and have a new Jasper rebuilt and am replacing parts just for the heck of it really. I ordered a new starter relay and it has 4 terminals-2 large brass, and 2 small terminals-one brass and one that is not. My old one, and the one pictured in my manual, has only 3 terminals-2 large and one non-brass small one. What do I do? Thanks

The old one used its case to reach ground.

The new one will need a wire, two terminals and attachment to ground.

FWIW, I'd keep the new one as a spare and use the old one.

Thanks so much! I'm going to do as you suggested and keep the new one as a spare and just clean up the the terminals and connectors on the old one.
The truck, which I've had since it was just a year old, is in great condition and will keep it until I croak, lol. But am getting a little carried away buying unnecessary parts that I can't really afford. Time to calm down! Thank you very much again, alan

On my 88 Ranger, the unit grounds to the inner fender, but you need to use the two posts for the for the terminals you have...and you probably also have a little red or black boot that should go on the left side of the solenoid...that is left when you are facing it...on your right when you are standing over it connecting it to the inner fender...
