Ok, so I'm a dumb@$$ and finished my 4.0 engine swap only to drop the wrench on the starter while tightening the exhaust bolts after plugging the battery back up. Lots of sparks! Electronics work but only clicking at the turn of a key. Change out the solenoid and electronics work but no clicking. Is it the starter or did I botch something on the new solenoid?

You may have shorted out the battery.

Check voltage when attempting to start truck If its dropping to very low volts or none you've either killed or drained the battery.

use a real volt meter not the idiot gauge in the truck.

I always use the idiot gauge in the top of the cabin and it always fails me. but for real, I'll take the batter and the starter to advance tomorrow morning.
