Hey guys, long time fan of the site here, and up until now with all the answers available in the tech library I've been able to manage without annoying anyone with my questions. But yesterday I went for a drive and noticed that when I was turning towards the left in 4wd the was a constant squealing until I went straight again. When I turn off the 4wd and turn, the squealing is gone. Any chance someone could line me up where I should start looking for the squealing? it's a 97 Ranger 4.0l.

Thanks!

Your front axle-shaft spins only in 4wd mode, so it's gotta be its U-joint or else your spindle bearing needs to be either repacked or replaced. While turning, your axle shaft is flexing more than while it's going straight. So my bet is on the U-joint itself.
