Squeaky B3000 issue

Hey guy I just bought a 01 B3000, 4x4, standard with 67K on it. I took it for a drive and noticed a squeak when I disengage the clutch. When I engage the clutch the squeak goes away. I'm not familiar with the drive system on these trucks.

-Is the front drive shaft "live" the entire time?
-I felt the U-Joint coming into the transfer case from the front wheels, the entire assembly was very hot (was for sure in 2wd)
-Is there a carrier bearing that needs to be greased?

In 2Hi, front drive shaft should not be rotating. Could be warm due to all that hot stuff near it (engine, exhaust y-pipe). I’ve never checked mine after driving. Squeak might be throwout bearing/slave cylinder.

Yes, 2001-2009 B-series 4x4s have Live Axles up front , so the front drive shaft turns when front wheels do in 2WD

Yes, the propeller joint on the front drive shaft at the transfer case end was an issue on these, but it would make a "click or tick" noise that changes with speed

Clutch "engaged" means clutch pedal is DOWN or UP?

If its a clutch issue then it will make the "squeal" noise when stopped and in Neutral
There are two bearings that are used in the clutch system
When pedal is DOWN the pilot bearing allows the input shaft to spin at a different speed than the engine/flywheel
So it can squeak a bit if its wearing out

And the throwout bearing is also under pressure with clutch pedal down, so it can squeak a bit, but, if its wearing out it would usually squeak a bit more with clutch pedal UP
Pilot bearing wouldn't make noise with clutch pedal up

But nothing at all to do with movement of the vehicle

Yes when I press the clutch down to shift the squeak goes away. I can also press it down and just coast and the squeak will go away.

The squeak will get faster or slower with speed.

Relativity inexpensive part, that tells me this is going to be labor expensive...

It requires pulling the transmission so kinda labor intensive. Worth just doing a whole clutch job since its all apart anyway. No point fixing one peice and then needing to do it all over again anyway later on.
