ok first off 03 fx4 level II 4.0 5 speed. 55K not sure if it is anything to be concerned about but i have noticed that when my truck sits for a wile or over night when it is cold out, when i first take off let off on the clutch i get a squeak. just wondering what your thoughts might be if i means the clutch is wearing down or if it is just from being cold. Any input or thoughts are welcome. thanks

is it coming from the clutch itself?

is this just a single squeak then its quite, or does it squeak several times? is it related to engine rpm, vehicle speed, clutch position?

this could be any number of things, you need to try and identify exactly where the noise is coming from. a few places to start would be the clutch pedal itself, u-joints, pressure plate, or slave cylinder.

It just squeaks once when i back up and then of course i am still drifting a little and when i let out on the clutch all the way i would say some what quickly and begin going forward it does it. i'm not revving to like 4 grand and dumping the clutch or anything i have been driving a 5 speed as long as i have had a license and i am now 28 . But like i said its only once and seems to be when it sets for a while or over night when it is cold.
