Spy shots of a 2012 ranger.

I dont' understand why Ford wants to kill the Ranger. Even GM (the marketing geniuses they are) has stated they're looking to bring back the S-10, because it's a smaller, more fuel efficient truck.

How very true. I have friends who traded in their S-10 for Colorado's and REGRET having done so. The S-10 was twice the truck (from a capabilty and durability standpoint) that the Colorado is.

Even though the Ranger hasn't had much more than cosmetic changes for over 10 years (last major mechanicle one was the intro of IFS in '98), it's still works well.

Maybe if Ford did some major marketing about how "bigger is NOT better" the Ranger sales might pick up enough to warrent, at very least, a new engine, say a detuned version of the 'Stang's 3.7 V6?

Why detuned? 305 horsepower and 30+ mpg highway in a ranger would be something everyone would want! Inclueding me! lol

30 mph highway, yes, but does a Ranger really NEED 300 hp? No.

If Ford wants to make a new version of the GMC Syclone, then HELL YES!!!! (but only if it has a stick shift and not some stupid manumatic or BS like that.

A ranger would have a helluva time hitting 30mpg, seeing as how its higher, less aerodynamic, and has a larger fontal area. Well, a 4x4 with the added complexity and weight would have a hard time. Not unless we're talking diesels or hybrids with 2wd and CVT's:icon_twisted: The very best I've every hit with my 3.0 is 25mpg and ALL highway (145 continuous miles). You might get over 30 but not with much "truck" left. Dodge Rampage maybe?:yahoo:
