Need some advice. So I have a 92 4 cylinder 5 speed xlt. Today it began sputtering while I was driving. I pulled over. Shut it down and raised the hood trying to see what the issue might be. I couldn’t see anything out of place. Started it back up and it ran like a champ. For like 20 mins. Then sputtering again anywhere from 1/2 to full throttle. Then I figured out that if I switch it off while running and back on, it clears it up again for another 20 mins or so. It’s the craziest thing. I’ve never had an issue like this. I’ve recent replaced the fuel pump, in line fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, air filter. Up until I bought it, it had been in a barn for 12 years under a tarp. I did drain the tank when changing the fuel filter. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance for any help.

The most likely cause would be a coil pack, crank sensor (usually causes full stall for a while until it cools down though), or ignition module (again, usually full stall...), unless there's a capacitor on the computer that's going which could do that...

I would hate to fire up the parts cannon though, a ground could do that too, Ron will likely pipe in at some point maybe helping narrow down from my list, he had an odd issue a year or two back that ended up being a capacitor on his ECM... depending on your handiness level I don't know where you are in this situation :). I do engine troubleshooting at work and see all types, it's extremely difficult to read people... some sound dumb but figure smart things out, some sound smart but don't know which mouse button on a computer does what... I mean no offense by anything and keep an open mind :)
