I got a 2001 4x4 (ext cab, XLT). Looking for 3" of suspension lift on a budget (around $1k) so I can stuff a least 33's. I'm in a lot of thick sticky mud, a few bad holes, but mainly need the tire width to keep traction so I don't slide off the road into the canals (I'm in the swamp)

Guy at the local custom shop has a spindle kit form a company called Spring Tech (maybe listed spring-tech, springtec, spring-tec, etc. you get it).
gave me a good prince too, spindle and block installed under my budget

I found a 2wd spindle kit on some random site, but no company page, reveiws, etc.

Anyone ever heard of them or know anything about their kits?

If not , got any suggestions.

I'm open to changing keys but would prefer not to crank stock ones.

will change shocks too - any good ones? Have been looking at deutch.

any advise would be appreciated

2wd spindles will not work with your 4x4. your options for a 4x4 suspension lift are a 4in superlift (1800 or so) or a 5in RCD (no longer made, over 2k to find used). or a body lift will clear 33s, thats about 200.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure if the local shop found a 4x4 spindle kit, I never saw it, he just said it was. I was just really concerned that he picked out a 2wd and didn't know the difference (SCARY!).

Thought abou tthe body lift too. How extensive is the build and how much modification must be done to extend everything?

What about a set of lift keys (i see a bunch of them out there)?

ive heard lift keys can hurt suspension components but ive never looked into it because it doesnt apply to me and my rig. dont buy spindles no matter what they say, they will not fit your truck. a body lift is relatively simple, just time consuming for the work. take out all the cab bolts, jack up the cab one side at a time, put the blocks in a move on. not much needs to be extended, just the fuel line at the filler neck (ext included in the kits) some grounds need to be lengthened (also included), steering ext, and a manual shifter ext if that applies (not included, 40 from summit.)

I've heard keys can tear up stuff too, mainly in cases were guys amx them out so that you loose pretty much all of the ride quality, part of the reason I would change shocks too. How much does the body lift affect ride stiffness in the truck?

Keys will only tear stuff up if you over crank them. Guys with 07 and under rangers shouldn't bother with them as you can get enough out of cranking your stock keys.

good to know. I noticed that I had a lot of bolt left in mine but was hesitant to do so under the impression that I could no longer get the alinment true with that much turn.

You will still be able to get it lined up, there is a few local guys who have the bolts all the way in and they still lined them up. I just got my lift kit today I have 2 inch lift blocks for the back and keys for the front. It was 170 bucks shipped to my door (Nova Scotia, Canada) from supreme suspensions(ebay). As far as I can tell the quality is there, but I will know more when I get my longer shocks and install it. With the lift I have I will be able to run 33's without rubbing with the proper offset rim. But I am going for 285 75 16 as I have 16 inch rims anyways.

body lift will not affect ride quality or handling. it only lifts the body away from the frame for tire clearence. suspension remains the same. with a body lift, and slightly cranked tbars you can clear 33s easy.
