I noticed replacing the factory coils some of the retaining "tabs" were bent over the top of the coils.

Does it matter if these weren't bent back over the replaced coil? Really there have to be pretty significant lift for these coils to fall out of the pocket.

No bend. :icon_rofl: my coils gonna fall out going down the road? :shok:

Also what are the rubber pieces that go under the coils? Mine fell apart, thought it was caked dirt like on the frame/rest of the truck.

Found it coil spring insulators. Guess I'll get some of those since they are only 13 bucks for a pair. Are they required?

I'd say at least one of the retaining tabs should be folded over to hold the spring in. Unless you wanna go to the F150 style with a clamp.

The spring won't come come completely out because it's held on by the nut on the bottom, but without the insulators too that spring can probably move around pretty significantly in there. I could easily see it causing some control problems over rough terrain..

The factory insulators in my case weren't rubber but plastic. Nylon by the looks of it.

Wrap a hose clamp around the top coil and the bucket. A lot of people, including myself, have run them that way for a long time with no issues.
