So I had allocated this Sunday to replace the fuel pump in my 1999 Ranger 4.0 4x4. It started simple enough. I pulled the bed off this morning and quickly ran into a problem. I have been unable to get the 3/8ths fuel line off the fuel pump fitting. The 1/4th came off no problem but this 3/8ths line is a REAL son of a *****.

I've gone to autozone and purchased 2 sets of tools (both plastic but this isn't rocket science). I've tried lightly hitting the thing with vice grips, still nothing. I've tried pushing the fitting up and twisting while I have the tool fully inserted, still nothing. I've hit the f***in thing with PB blaster and tried all of the above again. This thing just isn't coming off.

Any help would be appreciated! I would hate to have to put the bed back on and done all this for nothing!

I've run into that problem before... soak the hell out of it with PB Blaster and tap on the sides of the line with a wrench or something as you soak it down good. Then after a bit of time of soaking it an tapping an leaving it sit (I usually have a smoke or a beer for my timing method), then work the tool in to release the spring, tap it down in there good, then start wiggling, twisting, and tapping in the direction to release it. If it still woln't let go, lube it up again.
