Spring Hanger

i am gettin ready to build the front spring hangers for my d44 and was woundering what everyone use to make them out of i was thinking about using 1/4 plate steel but not sure how i want to go about it so i thought i would get some idea from anyone that is willing to give me some idea's thank

Whats the mounting width on your leafs? I have a spring hanger I never used that I built. 3x3 box with CJ style leaf mounts welded on.
