Due to recent changes in life, my 5 regular cab rangers won't cut it anymore.
Time for a 4 door. Currently I'm interested in finding a 1st gen Exploder Sport Trac.

I'm wanting it on 35"s, guessing I'm needing around 9", 6" suspension and 3" body.
Problem is I can't seem to find a 6" lift...

i think you'll have to SAS or find a 4" lift+3" body lift. i'd think that would be plenty for 35's. you may be able to SAS for the same cost as lifting an IFS rig

Yeah, with stock axles, and all the cheapest junk you can find.
Myth busted!

I'm actually contemplating fabbing my own drop brackets and upper arms, to use with a 3" spindle. I think 8" is feasible.

I'd say take the time to SAS it..
the bought IFS lifts are debatable. Maybe adapt a 6" Ranger lift to work? how much difference is there? if any?

No 6" SLA-IFS Ranger lifts either.

I agree, a SAS is probably your best bet on that.

stang did an SAS on a mercury mountaineer with an xj D30. basically the same thing as a sport trac. you could do that on the cheap (compared to other solid axles). i've got about $500 into my SAS and that's including the price of the axle.

My 02 Trac is on 32s right now with stock height. I could fit 33's with a little twist, and I could fit 35's with a body lift. With a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body, I don't see why 37's wouldn't fit. Only problem I see with the front suspension is its way stiff for offroading...

I have Rangers for wheelin. This would be a street queen, "mall crawler", basically just look good w/ a carseat buckled in the back seat.

Looks nice, but don't have the height I'm known for.

I'm not dead set on 35"s but the are about the biggest you can balance nicely, drive good, and come by cheap and easily.

I've spent a few hours on this forum before but never joined until now. Spend most of my time on the Explorer forum. Joined because I've gotten lots of good info here and thought I'd pop into this thread to share my experience.

I have an '01 ST 4x4 on 35s. 3" body, add-a-leaf, 1.75" torsion twist and a little non-cosmetic trimming. No rubbing. If you have any questions, let me know.

For a little info on where this truck is headed next, I have spent some time in the V8 swap thread by another member here (name escapes me at the moment) and I have a D60 front/D70 rear in the garage.

Hey offtrac, nice of you to join TRS :icon_thumby: let me know when you start/plan your v8 swap, I've got all the info you will need...
