i bought one at a garage sale. it had a sign right on it that says it fits a ranger, i took it home and tossed it in the truck... and it doesnt fit. so i got the p/n off of the thing ( 1U5A-19G299-AA ) and plug it into google. sure enough it says it fits rangers and explorer sport tracs. i got a hell of a deal on it, so im not too upset. if it comes down to it, ill just resell it and try to find one for the ranger. then again, im not opposed to doing a little mod to make it fit. it's too narrow, side to side, to fit in between the bed like its supposed to. if i remember right, it was about 6" too sort. now front to back, the thing is too long. i can probably get away with just cutting it down one way if i can figure out a way to make the width right. anybody have any other ideas??

this is the same exact thing, part number and all http://www.hoobly.com/0/0/1128918.html

the only way i can think of makeing it fit would be cutting it in the middle and putting sleeves to extend its width not sure if ud be able to weld it back solid or just go with some bolts or something.

if u do decide to sell it let me know maybe it will fit my '06 better :icon_thumby:

If it's too narrow, can you just bend the legs a bit?

its gonna fit your bed the same as it fits mine... they are all the same inside.

i might be able to cut it in between the 2 black plastic pieces in the middle, then use some slightly smaller tube inside.

i dunno, maybe. i think its gonna be pretty tough to bend them all the same amount and in the same place though... and then the sides wont be parallel anymore either.

I bought mine brand new in a box for $25 form a truck accessories shop that had moved to a different location. A bunch of the owners stuff got wet in the move and he was selling a bunch of stuff on Craigslist. It was a Westin and the insides of the box was nice and dry with the instructions and all parts nice and dry. I made mine fit since I have a spare 33x12.5 mounted in the bed. I had to cut it down to make it shorter. My part number is
W16100010 and it fits the 99 and up Rangers (not Flairsides). If you have part number W16100020, that fits the F-150 and the SportTrac.

Hope this helps out some, Bro.

Ooops!! Forgot to say that the W16100020 is for the F-150 Flareside. I did not say Flareside in my last post above....sorry. It works with the SportTrac as well as I stated above.

not a westin brand, its a oem ford part.

It may only fit the stepside beds of the Ranger.

i thought of that too, but its not quite that narrow.... i dunno.

Maybe some pics of the situation would help.

I'd say post it in the for sale forum on the Sport Trac board. There are people looking for those all the time.

www.mysporttrac.com

Also I doubt that a Ranger has the hinge pins for an extender if it didn't come with one originally. They look like the catch pins for the tailgate latches but are not in the same place.

If you decide to lengthen it, what's the OD on the tubes? I've got some scrap stainless steel tubing with an ID of 1.625" I could maybe send ya.

i was gonna add those pins, they are like $8 each at a ford dealer. if i decide not to use it though ill try to sell it somewhere. thanks for the link.
