Thought I would share my exhaust mods with you guys. Didnt see too much concerning Spintech in this section so here is mine. Nice and deep up to 3,500 rpm then it SCREAMS up top. Not raspy at all.

SOHC 4.0
2.5" tubing from the cat back all mandrel bent.
Spintech Pro Street muffler with a turndown.

Here's a vid in my driveway. Not the best at reproducing the sound. Against a wall and shot with a digital cam up close. The brown crap flying around is dirt.

:dunno: Off road racing world. You'd be hard pressed to find a truck with exhaust that isnt dumped in the desert. Mainly its the fact that clearing the axle while fully compressed is hard with a lot of travel.

Getting the exhaust out ASAP helps as well. IMO it sounds better than having a bunch more tubing restricting more flow and quieting or altering the tone of the truck as well.

it does sound sick ill give it that much

it would be very easy to route the exhuast to clear a high travel rear suspension. and if your that worried about pipe/axle clearence, exit the exhaust out the side before the rear tire.

a complete tailpipe will have minimal effect on sound and zero effect on performance. i could see race trucks not running full tailpipes based on weight or balance issues....but nothing else.

just my $.02

You're right in thinking that it is also a weight reason.

Keeping things simple in the desert is always good.

No check out spintech's design
Also all of their mufflers are 100% handmade right here in So Cal. When I went and picked up mine (faster/cheaper) I got to look in the shop and see the guys working.

Unlike any muffler you have ever seen or heard before
Traditional muffler designs remove sound in two ways: friction and absorption. Friction mufflers (stock type, turbo type, chambered) have high back pressure and can cause extreme high resonance and noise inside the vehicle at certain engine speeds (2000 to 3000) RPM.

Absorption (packed mufflers) have a straight through design, they can have good flow but the packing begins to deteriorate and get louder as they wear out, and with modern engines the heat is very high which destroys the packing even quicker.

Spin Tech's patented design provides maximum performance for today's modern engines. Its all done by means of a Spin sound trap, which captures sound vibration (noise) and turns it into heat within the muffler case. As exhaust gases enter they are routed to the spin traps which create a high velocity vortex trapping the sound waves. The extremely high flow rates are achieved by a unique internal scavenging system that creates a venturi effect.

Developed and fine tuned in the toughest race tracks of America, our product development continues as "Spin Tech Performance" mufflers are gaining more and more followers in the extremely competitive racing areas of Drag Racing, Circle Track Racing and Road Racing! Race officials are frequently requiring mufflers on competition vehicles, more often than not the 95 DB rule is becoming the norm. Spin tech performance mufflers can make the difference between winning and losing!

same concept and advertising flowmaster uses, just dif chamber design. the backpressure isnt a bad thing either, makes a big dif in valvetrain longevity.

oo i like that. altho i listened to the video and its a lil quiet for my tastes. are there different models from spintech? louder ones?

You can get louder ones yes. Mine is louder than the video for sure.

And Id take a spintech over a flowmaster any day.
