spindle stuck

Ok so i was going to change my ball joints today. So i take every thing off the passenger side down to the spindle. So first i tap the spindle. then i hit the spindle. Then i beat the spindle. Then i apply heat to the spindle and beat again. The damn thing has not moved at all. I read about putting a spindle nut on and hitting it but i dont want to mess up the threads. Would that do damage? What else can i try?

OTC "Silver Slapper" slide hammer and a spindle puller attachment

I used a chisel and lightly tapped the top. That didn't work, so I used a chisel and heavily tapped the to until it moved a little and then worked my way around. When I got it off, and cleaned it up and anti-siezed the shit out of the whole thing. I actually did not know that they made a spindle attachment for a slide hammer. Make sure you grind the chisel down to a very sharp point and just try not to scrape things up as much as possible. Good Luck!

Add a couple of good yanks on it and voila, the spindle is off.

Looks like a handy tool. Is there one specifically for ranger spindles or is it a standard size?

They have 2 sets of stepped threads in them. One is for 1/2 D44 (which is the same thread as rangers) and for 3/4 and 1 ton.

Unaware of the bliss you could experience by having the proper tool...

Not having one if you know the tool exsists fits into one of the first three choices.

BTW, they have those tools on the shelf in the tool isle in your local Checker/Shucks/Kragen/Advanced (I use this compound name because other than the name the stores are exactly alike
(probably because they are the same company)

Ok well i was just plain unaware of the tool. So I thank Sasquatch for a straight answer. I work at Oreillys and we do have many slide hammer attachments, but none like this. I tried three companys we get tools from and cant find it. I even looked through our OTC catalog to no avail. I also asked my instructors at my automotive class and looked through the specials tools and couldnt find it.
I ended up finding a set for Ford, which i hope is the D44 one, Chevy, and jeep. Its seventy dollars but if it works it works.
So, Allen, i dont believe I am either an idiot, cheap, or want to cause my self pain or aggravation. I was simply not as informed on all the tools out there. Thanks to everyones help, I am now a step closer to your briallance. So thank you so much for offering me your three choices, but ill choose none of the above and try and get this spindle off. If you feel the need to degrade me further please feel free to PM me. Personal assaults seem like a low blow for this forum.

Thank you. Well i finally found one from KD tools that i would have to special order from them. After even more digging i found one in Lisle tools that our Springfield warehouse keeps stocked. FYI the part number is 22200 and the line code is LIS. So should any one need it there ya go. Should be in tuesday so hopefully in the next couple weeks ill see if it fits on the D35 spindle.
