So in changing ball joints in a d35 with auto hubs and im down to removing the spindle nut and im having trouble removing the locking key out of the grove in the snout.....any one have some ideas? I have tried a few fifteenth magnets but no dice..... im trying not to damage any thing in the removal so cutting the nut off is out of the question unless all else fails......

I've done it a few ways, magnet usually works but you usually have to rock the nut back and forth a little, the other way is to take a piece of fairly strong small wire or a strong small pick and pick at the side a little while rocking the nut back and forth

just try and move it around with a pick like mentioned and put the magnet in there at the same time. The old grease is kinda like glue holding it in.

I have found that if I blow compressed air in groove to remove as much of the grease as possible then move nut till wedge is loose magnet will remove it.

Well I have tried all of the above and no luck. I have wasted more labor than it costs to replace the spindle nut. I ordered a new one. Time to get the grinder out and cut off the old one
