Ok, so I just installed 3" doetsch spindles on the front of my 2010 xlt 2wd (coil spring front). Now I'm hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the front right. I can't isolate it on my own so I'm gonna see if my friend can help me, but I was wondering if anyone had the same problem after installing these spindles. I'm pretty sure everything is installed properly, but maybe you guys can give me some insight to anything I may have overlooked.

Thanks for the help.

usually the sway bar link

did it start right after you installed everything? i'd double check all of the bolts for the brake hardware. i know on mine the bolts holding the caliper mounting bracket on have come loose and made some noise.

+1 to that.. Also make sure your spindle nut is tight enough. A lot of times people will tighten it up once and not re-check it. I tighten mine too far (to make sure it is seated completely) and then back it out and torque down. Learning from experience that it is necessary for me when I do it.

OOOOOOOOHHHH.. My brother just reminded me of what happened with his truck when we put spindles on it. I think they were fabtech, but don't quote me on it... When we installed, it did EXACTLY the same thing. We could not for the life of us figure out what it was.. We figured it out later that night. The ball joint hole in one spindle was bigger than the hole in the other. So it had play in it.

He ended up making a spacer that fit snug in the hole of the top of the spindle that fit the ball joint perfectly.. It was REALLY weird. But I am betting almost positively that is the problem.

Grab the wheel and shove it in and out like a big boy and listen for the sound. If it makes it, look at the upper a-arm and watch it. I will bet that is the problem.. The hole on his, was probably an honest 1/16" too big... Maybe even 3/32"

Never had any problems with my Fabtech spindles and my 2 inch taller front coils I installed. You loose some turn radius with the spindle lift. Is the noise only when you try a sharp turn like into a parking space for example? There are some safety stops that will make a faint noise when you start to turn too sharp. I hear that only once in awhile when I forget and do a really sharp turn into a parking space. The stops are doing their job.

Now...how about shocks? You put longer shocks on with the kit, right? I put new longer shocks on at the same time.

I also added a front steering stablizer at the same time I did the kit. This is a photo of my new one that I added a few months ago. I wanted a fresh one in white and added the Ford blue cover and the Ford logo to be Joe Cool!!!
