So next month ill have 1000 - 1200$ to spend on the truck. All of the mods will come in due time but unsure what to start with. Already did a 2 inch body lift and plan to trim 2 inches off the fenders when I need to.

So. ..

Front and rear lockers? The rear is currently a limited slip carrier so that'll be 450$ I think I can do front and rear locker and a 12k badlands (300$ shipped) within my budget.

But I kinda need new tires. I can get 33s mounted for 800. Then either a winch or a front locker. I vote winch Cut that'll get me further than a locker.

A friend said weld the front spiders and then buy the winch so I can save money but not sure I wanna do that.

Any mods not done will come a few months later.

Only thing I'm worried about with welding the front is the hill to the mountains. Its pretty windy and it gets pretty slick. If your willing to play you can always make it in 2wd without a locker. So no matter what its a slow drive both up and down. 1st/2nd gear slow. With 1 hub locked should have some steerability? No reason to drive fast on the ice if your in 4x4 any ways. And I couldn't ever see using it in town aas we don't get enough snow.

But after the snow melts I won't have to worry about 4x4 to get up there. And a front locker isn't that expensive so ill replace it soon after. 5 months? Or so after

I would do the tires, winch, weld the front. put in explorer front coils, and an add a leaf in the rear. there, you are broke, but have a very capable truck. and using one hub in ice works better turning one direction than the other.

$$$$

you can send it to me$$$ but tires first then check out every thing that has to do with making your rig reliable, hoses, belts, tune, mods come last, cause walking in your neck of the woods suck this time of year:icon_cheers:

Spent the last six months doing the reliable stuff. Replaced about 2500 in random stuff. Only thing I haven't touched is the rear axle, internal engine, and internal tranny, clutch is new.

Its a 4.0 Super cab, so I should already have explorer coils?

IMO buy a set of 33's on Craigslist for 300, get a used warn winch for the same price as your badlands, (the winch will fix stuck, lockers make you wheel harder and youll still eventually get stuck,) that puts you around 600 plus or minus 100

not sure what gears you have, but my 93 had 3.23's so look around for a set of used 3.55 or 3.73's from an exsplorer, and maybe even a 31 spline exploder 8.8 with LSD or locker (if you havent already) and trim the fenders instead of more lift IMO, mine is stock height with 33's and trimmed front fenders, no bumper and no rubbing. (well almost none, i need to trim the rear, but i aded 2 inch reversed drop shackles and that fixed that.)

...but my 93 had 3.23's....

Ford didn't have 3.23's, they had 3.27's...
I would get tires, you can't drive on bald tires long, then get the winch over the lockers, since the lockers will eventually get you stuck, the winch will pull you out. After some $$ recoupe, front locker first, then rear...

Been looking on Cl for 33s. Every one here thinks there shit is made of gold.... my buddy just sold his less than half tread 33s for enough to buy 4 new 35" procomp m/t.. i have 3.73 and limited slip in the rear. Did a 2 inch body lift to make working on the truck easier and my driveline was hitting the cab.

I only wanna go up 2 more inches then trim to eventually fit a 36.

And I can save up for like 2 months and buy an aussie.

I don't think I'd bother with lockers until I had some 5.13 gears for the 36's. I would just run 31's for now as I don't like doing/paying for things twice, especially for 5-6 months. I'd probably go for a 10,000 lb winch and 2" stinger, and add a front receiver. Then save money until I have enough to do the axles right for your new 36" tires.

I've been watching and learning both here and a full size Jeep forum. One thing you don't want to do is weld the spiders on the front. Limited slip there would be the best option, but you can put a locker in if you choose to. That takes care of the front.

Now for the rear diff. I'd keep the limited slip unless you feel the need to have a locker. I'd go with the Aussie locker over the others.

I'd leave the winch for after the bumper fix up.

The tires should be done as soon as possible as I know what driving on bad/bald ones can be. Go with the ones you know are readily available in your area. You'll never know when a flat tire will rear its ugly head. Also, get the right speedometer gear to match tire size and rear axle ratio. I plan on getting a 3.73. As soon as the funds to get it appear.
