By using my GPS I have found that my speedo is off (low) by 5mph at a reading of 30 mph (actual speed is 25 mph), 3 mph low at 40 mph but at 60 it is right on and stays right on til about 70 mph. I was told that there was a shift kit installed but the seller knew little more than that. Anyone? also I think there is an issue with a switch somewhere as my headlight/key in chime goes off any time I open the door, except when running, and yes the key is removed and lights are off. It will stop at times but I have no idea why. Tried to unplug the chime but just couldn't get to it as it is buried up in the dash. Just curious if someone might have an answer. Thanks.

Have the gears or tire size been changed from stock?

Most speedos are off by a little. I wouldnt be to concerned about it.

Which alarm is sounding? The key in or the light on? They both sound the same, but the light on is a fast ding with no pauses, The key in has pauses between the chimes.

If its the key in chime, pull the column cover, find the wire that goes to the ign tumbler, and disconnect it. That should solve your problem and the light on chime will still work correctly. (I do this on all my cars, I never take the keys out at work and that chime is annoying when trying to work under the dash!!!)

If its the lights on chime.... I got nothing on that one.

No idea, this was a PO trans. mod. The person I purchased the vehicle from knew very little about what was done, a shift kit was installed was the extent of the info I was able to get from him. Tires are stock size so it isn't a tire sizing issue.

I will check into this more, thanks for the info you sent. I use the GPS as a speedo when I need to keep an eye on speed (in the city) but it just screws with my odometer and that can be a pain as I use it to log mileage. Ah well, I'll just keep using the GPS.
