I changed my 14 inch wheels ad tires out for 16 inch wheels and 245/75 tires. Now I need to change out my Speedo gear to get my Speedo and odometer corrected. I understand the concept, and the math. What I am wondering is if there is a way to know what gear is in my truck so i can order what i need now. I am currently away from home for the next 30 days.

Any one know if they were specific to model years/wheel and tires combos or anything like that? Mine is a 1993 Ranger XLT manual 2wd 4cyl that came with 14 inch wheel and tires.

I went to 15s and bought the replacement drive gear. ended up going back to the original. Get a nav system and get the corrections off of it. I ended up 5 mph fast and the odometer off 4 miles/100 driven.

I think I ended up swapping mine 3 different times. I kept thinking I was buying the correct one but kept noticing it was off. I just used a speedometer on my phone to match it up. You might order a couple just in case so you don't have to wait for shipping and pay shipping multiple times. I had to order them from my local ford parts distribution for about 3 bucks each I think.
