I have an '89 Ranger with 3.73: rear. I recently bought a newer M5OD trans for it and installed it. It appears the tail shaft gear is diffeent than what was in mine originally as the speed is off. What other tail shaft gear came on the M5OD? My newer trans is a '92. What tooth count was on the tail shaft with a 3.73 rear? I'm trying to figure out if I can get a cable gear to correct the MPH shown. Thanks!

You'll need the red gear. I've got one I just took out of my truck since I took out my 3.73s in favor of 3.55s. PM me your address and its yours.

Thanks!

Zman,
Thanks, I'll PM you. I'm still interested in how many teeth and how many gears there are that go on the output shaft. I know on old Toploaders you can have 6, 7 or 8 teeth and from that you select the number of teeth on the end of the speedo cable. I just like to figure the math so I know what's going on. I have 215/70/14 tires as well which could affect the speedometer so I want to calculate tha tout as well.

Thanks,
