Speed limiter on a 3.0 with a 5 speed manual

I gotta agree with everyone here. If you want to haul ass stay off the road. I can't think of any situation where a street or even a dirt truck would need to do 85+, if you want speed plop down some cash and get a sport bike. I have gone faster then you could dream of at the Mojave mile, and taken corners faster then you ever could at willow, all while being completely safe. There are places for speed and anywhere a 4x4 could go is not that place

He meant 91 kilometers per hour, not miles per hour.

First of all the truck is not a track truck. It is my daily driver but it has seen track duty in the past. For all of you pansies out there that have never been down a track and think the 3.0 is a complete lush feel free to line up next to my pathetic 3.0 and enjoy the tail light show!!! I've owned 4.0's and trust me they are not all that. But my little 3.0 will run like a beast. And FYI!!! My tires are rated for it and so are my brakes and suspension. Get off your wallets and spend the money to upgrade the proper way and you won't have to worry about things like that. If you want a real 4x4 go buy an F-250 and lift it 8" like I've done. Bunch of ignorant smart asses!!! Running off at the mouth when you have no clue wtf you're even talking about!!!

Lol. Yes...because 8" of lift is so important when you still have 31" tires. Is that an 8" body lift? I think you belong in the Mud category on Pirate4x4 along with the others from Floriduh. (No offense intended to Floridians who can spell and properly fill out a ballot)

Also, your 3.0 runs like a beast? HAHAHAHA! I have a 3.0 and it's SUPER cute. You chose to modify a 3.0 instead of a 4.0? God I love me some aftermarket 3.0 stuff, it's so PLENTIFUL compared to the 4.0 lol

Oh, and lastly, a REAL 4x4? So what is a full width D60 Ranger with a V8 conversion? Is that not a real 4x4? Is that as heavy as your front lift block F250? Can we see your steering please? I'd love to see how much bump steer your tardmobile is capable of :)

As info my 97 Ranger limits at 91 Mph, I see no need to go any faster than that however i do take it out now and then and bump the limit just for the heck of it.

LOL so Rangers aren't real 4x4's? we have been living a lie!!!
I did a SAS and converted to a fake 4x4...

Just because it is a big truck it doesnt mean its a better 4x4.
That single statement shows how much you know about vehicles at all...

Ok. ASSHOLES!!! I asked a simple question as to if any of you morons knew how to remove the speed limiter because no one makes the power programmer to re program the SPEED ODOMETER on this truck. The truck came with 3.73's and now has 4.10's with 245/40/18's and if any of you had enough sense to know that now my 91 mph speed limiter now shuts the engine down at what? That's right ladies. "77 mph". Which in turn means that in my home town I can not keep up with traffic when it is not bumper to bumper. Get your balls out of your wives purses and drive like you were born with a set. As for being called a KID! I'm a 36 year old father of 3 that not only has been building non ECM style race cars and trucks for 20+ years. I have personally never "TINKERED" with ECM's so I asked a simple question that the only answers that would have been necessary would've been "I don't know" or "It's not possible" But for the shit talkers on here with your toy 4x4's next time you get them stuck don't bother asking to get pulled out by a 7.3 twin turbo power stroke 4x4 that by the way has the 8" lift with 40's not little baby tires like your baby trucks. Oh and one more thing. Not knowing anything about mechanics doesn't build you a 347 naturally aspirated mustang that runs 10.0's on street slicks bitches. Did I cover everyone here? If not I'll get back to you.

P. S. Thanks to all the guys that gave good straight answers. Your input and honesty about your knowledge is greatly appreciated. I look forward to ever helping out in any way possible in the future. I am always dealing with lots of ranger enthusiasts that always have lots of parts at hand so please feel free to hit me up with any needs you may have. But I am sorry to say that 4x4 parts aren't easily found in the south for rangers. Once again. Have a nice day.

People that come here that call US "Assholes" plain and simple are "Punks" nothing more that a young punk, I hear you mama calling, did you get your free kitten ??? (see left).

Greg.

um lets see ur heavy truck with a 7.3 twin turbo, 8 inches of lift, and 40 inch tires vs a ranger sas'd with 35's or so and a 7.3 lifted 8 inches i beleive........ yeathe ranger will win. Oh and before u go saying oh thats impossible look up 7.3ranger's truck now thats a 4x4 that can go anywhere and every place ur truck cant. while we go out and use half a tank on a wheeling trip and u use a full tank and run out dont come asking us for a tow home or some gas.

7.3 with a twin turbo..wouldn't want your gas. i'd rather have the f250/350 imo.

haha no kidding my friends dad's has a single turbo and he gets 19 if he doesn't get on it

Alright chill.

You came in and said "How do I remove the 91 MPH speed limiter?" You then started talking about how you run at the track, and you implied that you may street race at times too. Then you insulted the rest of us who don't want or need a fullsized pickup by talking about how Rangers aren't real trucks or real 4x4s. Last time I checked, the only requirements for being a "real 4x4" were a transfer case, two drive axles, and two drive shafts. You talk like someone who is at most 17 and has his head shoved up his rear. That is why we responded like we did.

Things that might have gotten you a better reception to the question would have included telling us why you are trying to do it (the now incorrect speedometer) and what you have/have not tried.

You revive a 5 month old thread to relieve your angst? Yeah, you'll get a lot of help berating everybody. Here's a link to the American Psychological Association's anger management page: http://www.apa.org/topics/anger/control.aspx

Wow and I thought I was being a dick in the Mitt thread.

:newlevelreached:

At the PCM connector, Pin 58 is a GY/BK wire (VSS input).

Interrupt that wire with a switch and your speed limiter will vanish.

When the switch is open, you may also lose your speedometer (please report back whether that happens or not).
At normal speeds, with that switch open, you will enjoy that your idle speed drops to actual idle, not that propped up 1200 rpm until you dip below 5 mph/stop. THAT'S why I want to know whether it affects your speedo or not. You can actually GAIN engine braking by doing this.

Please edit the profanity from your earlier post, so that we can continue to enjoy your presence at The Ranger Station.
