Speed and tach not working

i have a 96 ranger and the speedometer and tach and odometer are not working replaced the vss and still no good. The needles act like they are stuck. The tach tries to go but won't. What next?

Ya my battery light flickers and when it rains hard my speedo dint work sometimes. I know my battery problem is an exposed connector on neg terminal just haven't put on my new terms. Last owner did a funky job replacing neg terminal. I'm hoping both my probes are terminal but love to hear what your fix will be and I'll check it out.

Got it fixed

pulled instrument cluster off last night found broken wires on the solid state on the back. $80 dollars at a junkyard and a few hours time and problem solved could have spent who knows how much for a mechanic! Thanks to the ranger station forums for the wiring diagrams couldn't have traced wiring without it.
